Q: What are the advantages of attending Eisner Institute for Professional Studies?
A. Our experienced teachers actually teach the courses. There are no teaching assistants. The faculty are practicing professionals in their chosen area of specialization. They bring not only theoretical knowledge but contemporary and relevant issues as well. Our schedules are flexible and can be accommodated to your needs and interests. Low tuition which can be paid quarter by quarter. Small classes. No Dissertation requirement. A final Research Proposal or Position Paper is required.
Q. Are you distance learning?
A. Yes. We are 100% online. All classes are taken via the internet.
Q: Are there any residency requirements?
A: No. We are 100% on-line with absolutely no residency requirements.
Q: How does your distance learning work?
A: We use what is called an asynchronous method. Online access is given to enter a virtual classroom. The assignments are posted on our distance learning platform on a weekly basis. Students interact with the instructor and each other using threaded discussions. Thus, students can respond on their own time during the week.
Q: When can I apply?
A. There are four start dates each year. Essentially, we have rolling admission.
(Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer enrollment.)
Q. Do you
accept transfer credits?
A. For the Doctor of Psychology program we can accept
30 transfer credits. This depends on whether the courses
are post-masters and/or equivalent to the courses that
we offer.
Q: Do you
accept Life Credits?
A: No.
Q: Is a dissertation required?
A: No. Since we offer a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.)
and not a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), there is no dissertation.
Students, during the last quarter will present a research
project proposal. This does not require dealing
with subjects and analyzing data. Alternatively, students may present a research oriented Position Paper.
Q: Can I specialize in more
than one area?
A. Yes, for example, a student can major in the Clinical Specialization, but
also focus in Forensic Psychology.
Q. How long
does it take to complete the program?
A. The Master's (MA) program takes 2 years;
the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) program takes a total
of 2 years. We also offer a combination MA/Psy.D. program
which can be completed in three years.
Q: How long
are your courses?
A: The quarters are 11 weeks. There is generally a 1-2
week break in between quarters.
Q: How many courses are taken each
quarter?
A: Generally two courses. In some circumstances one course
per quarter may be taken. Prior to the last the quarter,
an additional professional writing and publication style
class is required.

Q. Must the tuition be paid all at once?
A. No, tuition is paid quarter by quarter.
Q: Do you offer scholarships?
A: We can offer a number of needs based and merit scholarships.
